This past March, I completed logo design for a new nonprofit agency based in Boulder County, Colorado. Helping Hands – There After Foster Care is a charitable organization dedicated to helping young adults who are aging out of foster care, providing support and emergency funding for education, housing, medical aids, and other essential items.
To support, I volunteered to create their visual identity. It was a fun challenge given how ubiquitous the term “Helping Hands” is in the sector.
In the suite of options presented to the client, I tried to evoke the same sense of community that the competitor logos display.
The icons most often used in foster care designs include hands, heart, people, ladders, and houses. I worked with the client to determine the icon most emblematic of their organization.
I selected a vibrant palette with teal and shades of purple. The logo itself is an icon of a home, overlapped by a symmetrical heart effect that reflects people, connection and support.
Lastly, the word mark casually links the letters “H” and “A” together.
I am overjoyed with the result, as well as the work the company will do to support their community.
